This site showcases my latest body of work using both acrylics on canvas
and egg tempera on gesso panels. Some years ago I was taught the ancient techniques of egg tempera and gilding and I am now revisiting this beautiful medium to produce powerful abstract pieces - almost modern day icons.  Although egg tempera has a tradition of being used in a very disciplined way to portray mainly religious subjects, its luminous quality, brilliance of colour and soft glazed surface, make it an exciting and wide ranging medium for contemporary imagery.
