CURRICULUM VITAE

I currently work from Commercial Square Studios, along with 11 other artists. My time is divided between developing my own work, working on commission pieces and being involved in various community projects. I find this is a very good balance and fully embrace the idea that the artist should be someone who interacts with the community as well as working in a more solitary way in the studio.

Examples of my work can be seen by clicking the Gallery links. Please note all my latest tempera work has its own gallery within the Gallery Egg Tempera link.

Commissions:

Over the years, I have done much commissioned work, most notably:

  •  In 2002 I was commissioned to paint two large, semi abstract pictures for the Managing Director’s office at Johnson & Johnson.MSD in High Wycombe.
  •  I also produced a site-specific piece for the Board Room of another international company, that of Janssen-Cilag in Saunderton, based in High Wycombe.
  • Commission for the Dordogne - I have recently finished a large commission, which has now been installed in a holiday house in the Dordogne. It is a large painting (4’ x 5’), oil on canvas, based on aspects of the landscape surrounding the house there and perfectly captures the sun-drenched landscape.
  • In 2005 I worked on a dyptych for a musician incorporating many elements of music and instruments to produce two large collages showing many aspects of his musical life.
  • In 2006 as part of a complete refit and reburbishment of a large house in Marlow, situated on the river, I completed a 4' x 4' Amaryllis painting for the dining room there.

Competitions

Winner in the Lazertran Art Student Competition 2001 for my 5 part screen Eden Revisited - work displayed on the Lazertran Website - www.lazertran.com
Obsidian Gallery, Five Counties Exhibition - work voted as one of the most popular pieces.

Artist in Residence

I have worked closely with the Tamaishi School of Taiko Drumming during their summer workshops to produce a mural of drummers in action. The drummers feel that having artists present whilst they are working adds a different kind of creative energy to the classes.

Arts Facilitator for English Nature

In May 2005 I was employed by English Nature to work on their 'Drawing Attractions' project, a project which extended to many Heritage sites throughout the UK. Click on Community Projects tab to read more.
